Simple and effective. This describes the restoration process, and the utility
of the axe itself.
Our Process:
The hickory handle is a smooth 220 grit, finished with tung oil for water
resistance and durability. It's grippy without being tacky, and wicks away
moisture without getting slick.
The head has been cleaned up with a course wire wheel, to remove rust and old
paint without removing the character of the underlying steel. The edge and
spike have been hand-sanded to 320 grit, and a razor sharp apple seed edge has
been added for superior cutting and edge retention.
Our Guarantee:
It's not as pretty as it was when it was new, but I guarantee that it has a
better edge and infinitely more street (forest?) cred.

Disclaimer:
We don't sell display pieces, our axes are crafted for use. We work hard to
ensure that every axe is capable of functioning at a level that exceeds any
reasonable person's expectations. While we put a great deal of time and effort
into the aesthetics of our axes, we cannot guarantee that your expectations for
the look of the item will match the reality of the piece you've purchased. What
you see in the pictures is what you will receive. If you want a flawless
restoration, do not purchase from us (we're good, but we're not THAT good). We
take great care when packing our axes for shipment, but have no control over
the shipping process. If your item is scratched or scuffed during the shipping,
yell at your delivery person; if it's been completely beat to shit, send us
pictures immediately at zach [!at] makersmidwest.com and we'll work with you to
resolve the situation. If you have any questions regarding the above statement,
reread it.
