This item is an H.Disston rip saw with 4 1/2 PPI. The blade is 28 inches long.
The small end of the saw is 1 3/8 inches high. The nib is present and in good
condition. The medallion is 1 inch in diameter. Looking up the medallion on the
Disstonian Institute.com, (a great website by the way), it tells me this saw
was made from 1860-1865. In1865 Henry Disston added his son to the company name.
One tooth is broken, this is the twelfth tooth from the handle. See photo.
There is no etching or number for PPI on the blade. The blade is in good
condition so if there had have been an etching i believe it would be
noticeable. The blade is straight, no kinks or cracks. The handle is in good
condition, no cracks. The handle does have wear and the usual patina found with
old saws. See all photo's for condition.
